Of your charity...

...please pray for the repose of Stella, that God may have mercy upon her and draw her unto Himself. Some of you may remember that I posted about certain unpleasant revelations late last year. Today is her first anniversary since it all came to light and I'm not handling it very well. I plan to make a little pilgrimage later today to my hometown and visit a few places of significance (in the hope that the current residents don't think I'm stalking them). Please remember her and me in your prayers. Thank you.

O Lamb of God, that takest away the sins of the world: grant them rest.
O Lamb of God, that takest away the sins of the world: grant them rest.
O Lamb of God, that takest away the sins of the world: grant them rest everlasting.

O God, unto Whom all live, and by Whose power our bodies, when they die, are not destroyed, but are in due time transformed into a better estate: we humbly beseech Thee, of Thy loving-kindness and mercy, to wash away and pardon whatsoever stain of sin contrary to Thy holy will this Thy handmaid may have contracted, through the fraud of the devil and through her own frailty and iniquity; and that Thou wouldest direct that her soul be carried by the hands of Thy Patriarchs: of Abraham Thy friend, and of Isaac Thine elect, and of Jacob Thy belovèd, where there is no more sorrow nor sadness nor sighing, where the souls of the faithful rejoice with a happy gladness: and that in the last day of the great judgment Thou wouldest cause her to receive among Thy Saints and elect ones a portion in Thine everlasting glory, where eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither hath it entered into the heart of man to conceive, the things which Thou hast prepared for them that love Thee. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Thank you so much, Elizabeth.

I paid a visit to the address on my birth certificate only to discover that it is part of an entire neighbourhood block, made up of various streets and buildings, all up for demolition and fenced off. I popped into the demolition site office, which was open, but there was nobody there, so I left a note explaining who I was and leaving my mobile number, explaining that I would be in the area for most of the day, and asking if it would be possible to be escorted to the particular address for just a few minutes. I didn't hear from anybody.

Then I went to the flat that I remember and visited the lady who lives downstairs, whose door I knocked on on that day 18 years ago, and we had a good chat for about 3 hours. I learnt more about the sequence of events of that morning and the situation leading up to it in those three hours than I did in 18 years. The conversation also gave me a greater appreciation of all that my family has done for me. I still struggle to get past the lies and secrecy, though. I'm feeling all sorts of emotions right now so we'll see how things go.

Prayers much appreciated.

Will pray for you both.

Last year sometime I was depressed and started wondering about suicide - I don't know where it came from. A little later I read something, perhaps on Fr Alexander's site, that said something along the lines of if someone is thinking about suicide they are being stalked by a very black and violent demon. I've never found the article again but I think the writer was spot on - looking back it was a person egging me on. Do I sound mad yet? Anyway I believe someone who commits suicide has been, perhaps even just for a moment, overcome by a spiritual intelligence far stronger than themselves and that Our Lord will more than take that into account. He loves us so much and forgives our sins day and daily to prove no sin is beyond forgiveness.

Please forgive my silence, everybody. Don't think that I haven't read your sentiments or that I'm not grateful for your prayers - that includes those of you who have contacted me privately and not received a response. It's good to know that I'm being thought of and your thoughts and prayers are very much appreciated.

Thank you.
